Ghelici denounces system of squeezing money out of people

In Moldova, people are squeezed of money, Moldovan justice is a well-established system through which ordinary people are deprived of their properties in favor of those who bribe judges, prosecutors, lawyers and registrars. The statement was made by head of the NGO “My Moldova” Fiodor Ghelici, Info-Prim Neo reports. Fiorod Ghelici recommends people to go to the Cadaster Agency and verify if they are still owners of their houses. He warns that many judges take bribe to deprive some people of their properties. According to him, the secretaries of courts send notifications to the owners, but with the wrong address written on them. The owners don’t receive them and don’t know about the trial, so that they are not present and the decision is taken in their absence. Afterwards, the real estate is put for sale and the owner kicked out. Ghelici brought the example a family that was deprived of a building in Calarasi town and that has been fighting in courts to regain their property for more than a year and a half. The Diacons say that already two lawyers demanded them money to bribe judges. One demanded €3000 and the second €6000. Tatiana Diacon said that her husband, Nicolae Diacon, inherited a house in Calarasi, which he demolished and built a shop instead. About a year and a half ago, they wanted to rent out the place, but they learned at the Cadaster Agency that they weren’t the owners anymore and that the building was sold to a Moldovan woman settled in Spain. Tatiana Diacon said that almost all courts refused to explain how her husband was deprived of his inheritance. Moreover, he is charged with false testimony. “When did he present false testimony? I don’t know. The first trial is on Monday. For a year and a half we are dragged through courts and lawyers are expensive. Honestly, we don’t have the financial resources to continue the struggle”. Member of the “My Moldova” Association Igor Caldare remarked that illegalities reached a peak in Moldova. There are cases when people disappear when they try to get justice. Igor Caldare thinks that most of the illegalities in courts are committed by registrars, who are bribed to not publish all the information and not to record all the testimonies in court. The “My Moldova” representatives are convinced there is no actual reform in the justice and call on Parliament to adopt harsher penalties for magistrates that violate the law.
