Germany to triple financial aid to Moldova
Germany will almost triple the bilateral assistance to Moldova. It is reflected in the increase of the sum from €4.5 million to €15 million. The statement was made by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, during her visit to Chisinau on August 22, reports Info-Prim Neo.
“This is our intention, to have stability and strength in our political and economic cooperation. Additionally, we contribute to European funds given to Moldova. The European Union commits, for the following year, to offer Moldova assistance totaling at €122 million. This commitment is not an aim per se, but an expression of the strengthening and support of your own powers, of the powers of Moldovan citizens, towards achieving success”, stated Angela Merkel in the speech delivered at the Republican Palace.
The Federal Chancellor added that this is also a reason to attract attention to commercial relations between Moldova and the European Union. “The fact that both parties negotiate an Association Agreement is encouraging and praiseworthy”, the official said. According to Angela Merkel, the Agreement will offer Moldova the possibility to operate within the common European market, absorbing its benefits, which will increase Moldova’s attractiveness for investments from the European Union, which will impulse economic growth and prosperity.
Angela Merkel visited Moldova for the first time on Wednesday, August 22. She had meetings with the country’s leadership, Parliament Party leaders, and the business community.
