Germany will provide a €50M unconditional loan to Moldova to help the authorities in Chisinau cope with the influx of Ukrainian refugees and increased energy costs. This can be considered the immediate result of the “Moldova Support Platform” donor conference, which took place in Berlin, with the participation of Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița.

Co-organized by Romania, Germany and France, the forum was an occasion to mobilize external assistance for the management of the humanitarian crisis in the Republic of Moldova.

In their speeches, the Moldovan prime minister and the foreign ministers of the respective countries condemned the military actions carried out in Ukraine, pleading for the identification of peaceful solutions to the war, which leaves a significant mark in various important areas for Moldova’s development.

Natalia Gavrilița thanked the Moldova Support Platform. “We are determined to follow the agenda of building a modern European state. Strengthening good governance, restoring the rule of law, fighting corruption and increasing economic resilience are among our priorities. We understand that EU accession process is a lengthy process, it requires profound transformations, and it requires as much support as possible from the EU member states”.

For their part, the foreign ministers of Germany, France and Romania mentioned that their countries remain by Moldova’s side, both in times of war crises and in the process of European integration, supporting Moldova’s efforts to reform the state.
