Germany provides €38.7m in non-reimbursable assistance to Moldova

Germany will offer €38.7 million in non-reimbursable assistance to Moldova for financing the Ecological Energy Production and Energy Efficiency Project. As the prices of building materials grew, Moldova will also get €10 million for supplementing the budget of the Water Supply and Sanitation in Cahul District Project II. In this regard, the Government approved a bilateral agreement with the Government of Germany, IPN reports.

Currently, owing to the age of buildings and the absence of investments in works to increase energy efficiency, the energy performance of the real estate sector is low. The project implemented by the Ministry of Energy with the support of the Energy Efficiency Agency is aimed at improving the interior comfort of buildings, at diminishing energy consumption by at least 30% and at reducing CO2 emissions, it is said in a press release of the Government.

The beneficiaries selected within the calls for proposals will receive loans with a grant component for energy efficiency works, while the projects chosen for being financed will be implemented by the end of 2027.
