Young people who are not in employment, education or training (NEETs) will receive support from German partners and the state to find good jobs in the Republic of Moldova. This will be possible thanks to the launch of a project implemented by GIZ together with the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Moldova. “Through this project we will be able to hire more young people, offer them vocational training courses and internships and employ them,” Felicia Bechtoldt, secretary of state of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, has told IPN.
The official noted that this project is very important for the employment of young people, especially those who do not have a job, who do not study, who do not have a certain training on the job. “We all know that we have many young people in rural areas who are not involved in either education or work. So, it is very important for us to get them employed. We want to offer them these opportunities here, at home, and to have fewer young people emigrating for other jobs in the European Union,” said the secretary of state.
Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu said that the situation of young people on the labor market is not favorable and the same problems have persisted for a long time. The launched project comes to contribute to the employment of young people in Moldova. “I’m very glad that this project, which is being implemented thanks to the generous support of the German Government and our good counterparts from GIZ, will help us advance much more decisively and faster the reforms we have started in the field of labor market, because I believe that as long as we do not have a very strong employment agency, with a motivated, well-paid team, with a significant budget to be able to implement active employment measures, we will not be able to decisively clarify this issue,” said the minister.
German Ambassador to Moldova Margret Maria Uebber said that within this project the German side aims to support the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection’s efforts to modernize the National Employment Agency, first of all, by better equipping the agency, providing it with modern equipment to assess the situation on the labor market and to help jobseekers to better adapt to the real market needs. “We must continue to work to better adjust the education process of young people to the needs of the labor market, and one of the measures I would like to mention in this context is the introduction of the dual education system in Moldova. And I think I can say that our project in this regard is well-known and successful,” stated the ambassador.
The project to the value of €3.8 million has an implementation period of three years.
