Eight ventilators for treating severe cases of COVID-19 in Moldova were handed over by Germany’s Ambassador in Chisinau Angela Ganninger to the Emergency Medicine Institute. The equipment was estimated at 4.7 million lei, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany stated in a press release that is quoted by IPN.
The Emergency Medicine Institute and “Timofei Mosneaga” National Hospital will get by three ventilators, while the COVID-19 triage center in Chisinau and the Ceadâr-Lunga District Hospital will receive by one ventilator. The equipment was bought with funds from the Federal Foreign Office of Germany and will help save lives during the pandemic, being a sign of Germany’s solidary with the people of the Republic of Moldova.
In May, the Embassy handed over protective suits to the value of €50,000 intended for medical personnel to the Ministry of Health. On October 3, on the occasion of the German Unity Day, the Embassy transmitted suits to the value of about €4,000 to the National Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Assistance Center. Through the agency of the German Society for International Cooperation, Germany purchased two more ventilators worth €60,000 for use in intensive care units. They were dispatched to the Transnistrian region in September 2020, as part of the Confidence Building Measures Program.
In the framework of the German Government’s COVID-19 emergency assistance program, €250,000 was provided to support small and medium-sized enterprises affected by the pandemic. According to the financing contract, the Organization ODIMM will develop a support program for digitizing and automating SMEs.
