The Chisinau-based “Mihail Kogalniceanu” Lyceum received a EUR 7,800 donation consisting of 13 computers from the Embassy of Germany in Moldova and the Goethe-Institut. Lyceum’s principle Natalia Timofei stated at the donation ceremony that the advanced equipment will contribute not only to improving teaching of informatics, but also of other disciplines. Natalia Timofei added that the donation is very opportune, since only 3 of the 10 older computers were running normally; furthermore, they didn’t have access to the Internet. Marcie Anne Grafin Lambsdorff, the wife of the German Ambassador to Moldova, said that she visited this high-school earlier this year and was very impressed with the performances of the students in learning the German language. The new computers will enable the students of Kogalniceanu Lyceum to establish connections with peers from German schools, the Countess Lambsdorff said. The theoretical lyceum “Mihail Kogalniceanu” is the only high-school in Moldova that teaches advanced German and whose graduates can obtain certificates in German language skills.
