The Bundestag of Germany adopted a resolution by which it confirms Moldova’s European prospect. The resolution reaffirms the right of the European states to freely choose the integration model that they want to follow. Prime Minister Iurie Leanca welcomed the resolution, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.
According to the Bundestag, Moldova took important steps towards building democracy and ensuring the respect for the human rights, pluralism of opinions and political pluralism as well as to implement the justice sector reform and to fight corruption, which remains a key challenge for the Moldovan authorities.
The members of the German Parliament expressed their support for the implementation of the Association Agreement and called on the EU to augment the assistance in this respect. It is for the first time that the Bundestag adopts a resolution on Moldova’s European prospect.
The U.S. Congress also plans to adopt this month a resolution in support of Moldova by backing the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the country with a view to strengthening the democratic reforms.
