George Mocanu: Agreement with EU is most important document after obtaining of independence

George Mocanu, of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group, said that he will vote for the ratification of the Association Agreement with the European Union because this accord opens opportunities for Moldova. “This agreement is the most important political and economic document since the obtaining of independence,” the MP said within a survey carried out by IPN among lawmakers.

George Mocanu noted that after so many years of stagnation, the Moldovans can finally take a firm decision about the civilization model they want to follow. “It is a real step towards the EU. Moreover, the impact analysis shows that owing to the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, in conditions of good management, over the next few years we will be able to diversity the export markets, to significantly increase exports and, respectively, the GDP,” stated the MP.

He believes that this is namely what the Moldovan citizens need – rights, freedoms, justice and European welfare. “The integration into the EU is now not only a wish, but also a civilization choice,” he said.

The Association Agreement with the European Union will be signed in Brussels on June 27. A minimum of 51 votes are needed for the accord to be ratified by Moldova’s Parliament.
