The geopolitical message continues to be used before the mayoral runoffs in Chisinau municipality even if the capital city does not need geopolitics and this should be headed by a skillful manager who would solve the local problems, said invitees who took part in the talk show “Key issue” on NTV Moldova channel, IPN reports.
Journalist Valeriu Demidetskii noted the post of manager of the city is not a political one. A manager should come with a team and save the town. However, the geopolitical message is kept in the runoffs event if this has no importance for the future of the capital city.
Socialist MP Vlad Batrancea said Andrei Nastase uses geopolitics in his electoral speech because he has no other arguments to persuade the voters. “According to our information, Andrei Nastase’s consultants admitted that he does not have arguments for fighting corruption and for the managerial problems either. He was engaged in this geopolitical narrative by his consultants, ” he stated. According to the MP, the pro-European voters are tired of expectations and are dissatisfied as the geopolitical path for Andrei Nastase is not the best choice. “He will be unable to convince these voters that this is the bright future.”
Analyst Cornel Ciurea said not the solving of the problems of Chisinau, but the creation of a platform for fighting against the central power is important for Andrei Nastase. “This is his political quintessence,” he stated, adding that this candidate has greater possibilities of mobilizing the voters for the runoffs. At the same time, the voters of Silvia Radu will decide who to support and that person will win. “However, I think that the first message – the problems of the city – matters more for the voters of Silvia Radu,” noted the analyst. According to him, many of the voters are undecided and a lot will be decided in the period before the June 3 runoffs.
