The general repair of the roofs on the apartment buildings in Chisinau has been delayed because of the scarce municipal budget, and according to Chisinau Deputy Mayor Vlad Cotet, they will undergo only superficial maintenance, Info-Prim Neo reports. Cotet told the City Hall's ordinary meeting on Monday that the municipal division responsible for housing and public amenities has already started maintenance works. Cotet said other preparations for the 2009/2010 cold season are underway, including pipe maintenance and wiring repair. The head of the municipal education division, Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb, stated at the same meeting that preparations for the cold season and the new school year are also in progress at most educational establishments in the city. For this reason, but also due to the traditionally low attendance in the summer season, 35 out of 123 kindergartens have been closed.
