The General Prosecution (GP) has requested a time-out from the Plenum of the Supreme Justice Court (SJC) to “get ready” for the proceedings which might absolve Serafim Urecheanu, leader of “Our Moldova Alliance” party, of penal investigation. Serafim Urecheanu told Info-Prim Neo that in May JSC demanded the Prosecution to clear the politician of penal proceedings. GP considered the court decision as “groundless” and announced it will be subjected to debate in the Court’s Plenum, being allowed to do so within one year term. On Monday, September 25, the representative of the Prosecution requested the Plenum to postpone the trial until October 23, claiming insufficient time for preparation. Serafim Urecheanu is sure that PG didn’t manage to “get ready for the show against Urecheanu”. AMN leader is accused of embezzlement as former Mayor of the capital city, in regards to 40 ambulances acquired for the Emergency Hospital, thus allegedly draining public coffers by MDL 3.3 mln. The court has put off trials 3 times before, officially motivated by sick leaves of judges or prosecutors. Urecheanu pleads innocent and claims that the case was forged “at Voronin’s order”, as “since communists took power, the City Hall was exposed to multiple inspections, but none of them proved any illegality.” Inquired by Info-Prim Neo, the representative of the PG Press Service said that he knows nothing about the Monday trial, claiming that information might be available only on Tuesday. CSJ annulled a number of ordinances issued the Rascani district Court and PG, based on their illegality, including the one of the prime-deputy-prosecutor general Valeriu Gurbulea, who ordered an investigation group against Urecheanu.
