General Education Division insists on creating methodological centers in schools and kindergartens

The General Division of Education, Youth and Sport of the municipality of Chisinau demands that methodological centers be set up in schools and kindergartens. The subject was discussed at a meeting of the Division’s personnel on Monday, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The methodological center trains the teachers and familiarizes them with the changes made to the curriculum and in the organization of the education process,” said Natalia Strajesco, the head of the Information and Community Relations Section. “We follow thus the experience of other countries where the education institutions have units responsible for the implementation of information technology. We also separate the technological activity from the methodological one,” Strajesco said. According to her, many institution heads back the idea, but there are no finances to put it into practice. Some of the institutions do not have spaces for such centers. Another subject discussed was the certification of teaching staff. “We have a lot of teachers in the municipality of Chisinau, but few specialists that could monitor their activity,” said Elena Cernei, the head of the Continuous Formation and Certification Section. “The certification regulations say that the teachers should be supervised during a year, not only at open lessons,” she added. A five-year program that specifies the number of teachers that will attend refresher courses was formulated at the proposal of the Continuous Formation and Certification Section.
