The president of "Gazprom", Alexei Miller, is expected in Chișinău on September 20-21, at three meetings: the second edition of the Moldo-Russian Economic Forum, the Moldovagaz general shareholders meeting and the Moldovan-Russian intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation meeting.
In a Facebook post, the President of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Dodon, who was on a one-day visit to Moscow, mentions that Alexei Miller's visit to Chisinau "will contribute to a much more consistent dialogue between the two countries, on the most important issues regarding the economy and energy”.
In Moscow, Igor Dodon spoke with the head of Gazprom about the prospects for cooperation in the energy sector. In particular, they talked about Russian gas delivery conditions to Moldova and about necessary measures that would allow avoiding rising gas prices for Moldovan consumers.
Additionally, according to the head of state, the talks addressed aspects regarding the signing of new contracts regarding the supply of natural gas to Moldova and regarding their transit through the territory of Moldova, starting with January 1, 2020. Current contracts between "Gazprom" and "Moldovagaz" expire at the end of 2019.
