Gazprom extended the deadline by which Moldovagaz must repay the current debt for the supplied gas until November 26, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spînu informed through his Facebook page.
The official underlined that the Government of the Republic of Moldova took all the necessary measures for the debt accumulated for October and November to be cleared by Friday.
In a news conference recently, Andrei Spînu said the solution proposed by the Government to repay a current debt owed by Moldovagaz to Gazprom is a debt transfer contract worth 1.4 billion lei, whereby the state company Energocom would take over a part of the debt owed by the utility Termoelectrica to Moldovagaz. The Government has been working on this solution since last week, but more time is needed to get it through all the legal procedures.
Last week, the Ministry of Finance presented a bill to amend the state budget and to allocate the necessary sums and Parliament gave it a first reading. On November 25, the MPs are to give a final reading to this bill and to adopt it and the money will become available.
