Gazprom agreement might be signed for 3 years, not 5
The renewed gas supply agreement with Russia's Gazprom might be signed for a period of three years, and not five as the current one, Deputy Economy Minister Ilarion Popa announced at a news conference.
Negotiations between Moldovagaz and Gazprom are ongoing. Moldova's negotiators, which include representatives of Moldgaz and experts from the Ministry of Economy and other governmental agencies, are looking together with Gazprom for a more suitable formula to calculate the price of gas which takes into account the purchase power of end-users in Moldova, said Popa.
Popa refrained from providing other details on the negotiations, but announced that
Gazprom's vice-president Alexandr Medvedev would visit Moldova in October to discuss the deal.
The current gas supply agreement, which was signed with Gazprom for a period of five years, is due to expire on December 31.
