The price of gasoline will be by 0.34 lei higher, while of diesel fuel by 0.32 lei higher. The National Agency for Energy Regulation announced the fuel price ceilings for June 13-26, IPN reports.
During the next two weeks, the price ceiling of gasoline will be 19.49 lei/liter, while of diesel fuel – 17.41 lei/liter.
For the first time the Agency provided explanations. Thus, 9,23 lei/liter is the price of gasoline according to quotations, 3.76 lei/liter is the excise duty, 3.25 lei/liter is the specific commercial margin, while 3.25 lei/liter is the VAT.
In the case of diesel fuel, 9.50 lei/liter is the price according to quotations, 1.76 lei/liter is the excise duty, 3.25 lei/liter is the specific commercial margin, while 2.90 lei/liter is the VAT.
According to the Agency, the retail price ceilings for gasoline and diesel fuel are calculated based on the average Platts quotations recalculated in Moldovan lei depending on the official average exchange rate of the national currency against the US dollar for the past 14 calendar days.
In the reference period, the average Platts quotations rose by US$ 8.74 per tonne of gasoline (+1.23%) and by US$ 6.74 per tonne of diesel fuel (+1.02%). The average exchange rate of the national currency against the US dollar was 16.9016 lei, up 0.3118 lei (+1.88%). Thus, the rise in the average Platts quotations recalculated in Moldovan lei was 0.34 lei per liter of gasoline and 0.32 lei per liter of diesel fuel, including VAT.
The other components of the price ceiling remained unchanged, consisting of the VAT rate of 20%, the excise duty of 3.76 lei/liter for gasoline and of 1.76 lei/liter for diesel fuel.
The specific commercial margin of 3.25 lei/liter includes: the premium of the refinery’s supplier; costs associated with the transportation and insuring of oil products on the territory of other states; customs clearance taxes and pollution fee; costs for currency conversion; transportation, storage and sale of oil products on the country’s territory; other costs related to the importation and sale of the main oil products; profit from the retailing of oil products.
On May 29, the National Agency for Energy Regulation set the price ceiling of 19.79 lei per liter of gasoline ‘95’ and of 17.75 lei per liter of diesel fuel. Following the dissatisfaction that appeared in society and a request made by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, on June 1 the Agency suspended its decision, restoring the previous prices. Meanwhile, motorists mounted two protests against the rise in fuel prices.
