GasNaturalFenosa filed an application to the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE), asking raising the electric power charges by 14% from April 1.

Contacted byIPN, the head of the company’s Foreign Relations and Communication Division VasileGribincea said the rise is requested for the consumers connected to the 0.4kV low-voltage power lines following the 3% increase in the purchase price of electricity from producers, the 4.5% increase in the prices of power transportation services and the oscillations on the foreign currency market.

Also, in 2012 the company made investments of about 290 million lei in the renovation and modernization of the power distribution networks.

The request of Gas Natural Fenosa will be examined in the ANRE’s meeting.

On March 26, acting Minister of Economy ValeriuLazar said there are no preconditions for increasing the power charges for end-users. The statement was made after a purchase price of electricity of 6.9 cents per kWh was negotiated with Ukraine.

The last time the price of electric power for end-users was increased last May, by 0.10 lei per kWh.
