Gas supply to Termocom likely to resume Thursday by noon
The Chisinau City Hall issued a guarantee letter to heat distributor Termocom, committing to transfer 35 million lei from its debt of 176 million. After the natural gas supplier Moldova-Gaz halted the gas supply to Termocom, the latter stopped the hot water and the heat in two sectors and all the suburbs of Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The amount equals Termocom's debts to Moldova-Gaz.
Chisinau mayor Dorin Chirtoaca stated Wednesday that Moldova-Gaz's gesture was “a disproportionate and discriminatory move,” sine both Termocom, and Moldova-Gaz knew the money was to be allocated. “The problem is not in the debts, but in the amount of the tariff to be adopted by the Municipal Council,” the mayor said.
According to Chirtoaca, “they try to blackmail the Chisinau administration and turn the people against the mayor.” He has told journalists that “the Government went against the children in kindergartens when it halted the natural gas, since representatives of the Cabinet are member of Moldova-Gaz's board.”
The mayor says he “foresaw such a situation and does not rule out the situation can repeat next week.” He says he will convene the faction leaders to establish the heat tariff, but adds it should stay at 540 lei/Gcal, as is now.
At a joint sitting, the City Hall and Termocom have agreed that the CMC will allocate 35 million lei to Termocom, and the latter will pass the money to SA Moldova-Gaz.
When asked when the houses will have heat again, Termocom's manager Dionisie Antocel says the decision belongs to Moldova-Gaz. Antocel says the guarantee letter inked by the mayor will be considered by Moldova-Gaz, and most likely “tomorrow at non the has supply will resume.”
Moldova-Gaz halted its deliveries to Termocom on Tuesday at about 17.00, leaving 1/3 of the Chisinau residents without heating and hot water. Last Money, the mayor ordered to start the heating period. The kindergartens and hospitals were connected last week.
