Gas imported from Russia has grown dearer

In the first quarter of 2011, Moldova will import Russian gas at the price of US$289.93 per 1,000 cubic meters. The results of the talks with Russia's gas giant Gazprom were announced by Moldovagaz on Thursday evening, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Moldovagaz, the average import price of gas in 2011 will be by 13% higher than in 2010. Under the agreement reached with Gazprom, next year Moldova, including the Transnistrian region, will be supplied with 3.326 million cubic meters of gas. The tariff on the transportation of Russian gas via Moldova was increased from US$2.5 to US$3 for 1,000 cubic meters of gas conveyed along 100 kilometers. Thus, Moldovagaz's revenues will rise by US$8.6 million.
