Gas cylinders will be removed from apartment blocks in the Transnistrian region. If found, they will be confiscated as an instrument of a crime, IPN reports.
The subject was discussed at a meeting convened by the region's administration with specialized services to analyze measures to prevent or minimize the consequences of a possible energy crisis.
The use of gas cylinders is banned because they create an explosion hazard.
Transnistrian Economy Minister Sergei Obolonik told the meeting that claims that the Dubasari hydropower plant is ready to supply 80% of Transnistrian needs are exaggerated.
"Now the water level in the Dniester River is much lower than before, and the generating capacity is low, no more than 16-18 megawatts," Obolonik said.
