The extremely cold weather led to a rise of about 11% in gas consumption by January 30, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the gas utility Moldovagaz. An incident occurred in the municipality of Balti on January 31 owing to the low temperatures. As a result, about 2 500 families remained without gas. The supply of gas was resumed towards morning. Moldovagaz announced that its specialists are ready to take action in emergencies and assures that it takes all the measures needed to prevent interruptions to the gas supply.
