Gas and electricity will not rise in price in the near future, even if buying prices will undergo adjustment in the fourth quarter of this year, Economy & Trade Minister Igor Dodon assured. At Friday's Cabinet meeting, Dodon pointed out that the agreement signed with Russia's Gazprom in 2006 outlines clear prospects for gas delivery until 2011, and the rates for the end-users, which were adjusted in August, will not change in the near future. According to Dodon, electricity rates will not be raised either. “The electric power delivered by Ukraine offers a clear pricing stability and we are confident that, according to the delivery contract, no problems should appear”, the Minister declared. Dodon went to add that the gas and electricity supply systems are technically ready to face the upcoming heating season.
