On Saturdays and Sundays, the household waste stored on platforms in Balti municipality is not collected because the access to the landfill is closed on the weekend. Waste collection is resumed on Monday morning.

In a response to an inquiry made by IPN News Agency, Veaceslav Zincovschi, head of the Public Amenities Division of Balti municipality, said the collection of garbage is now the responsibility of municipal enterprises as the company chosen to collect the waste last yearend refused to provide services to the local administration, in breach of the contract, and the waste hasn’t been taken away during several days.

According to Veaceslav Zincovschi, the Balti municipal authorities are taking measures to avoid a repeat of the situation of the end of last year.
