Garbage from 260 ha collected in Chisinau
More than 260 hectares of land were freed from waste in Chisinau on the National Cleaning Day held on April 16. The event organized by the team of “Come on, Moldova” Project brought together over 6,000 volunteers, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In Monday’s meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials, Sanitation Division head Tudor Manev said about 70 units of transport conveyed the collected garbage to waste dumps.
Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca said the City Hall will organize another cleanup campaign after Low Sunday. It will involve not only employees of municipal companies, but also volunteers.
“The fact that so many people became involved in the cleanup effort on April 16 shows that we care. The dirty River Byk is yet a serious problem,” said the mayor.
Volunteers from 27 districts took part in the National Cleaning Day all over the country. The organizers will present the results the next days.
