Garbage can be stored at Tintareni for ten more years, minister
The waste dump in Tintareni, Anenii Noi can accommodate garbage for ten more years and other storage places should be identified if the dump is to be closed, Minister of the Environment Gheorghe Salaru said in a news conference on Tuesday, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We have a problem. The waste is stored at Bubuieci on a temporary basis. The local authorities of Chisinau and Tintareni had a meeting and we hope the problem will be solved so that we not return to Tintareni, where garbage can be stored for ten more years. This waste dump meets all the environment-related requirements,” said Gheorghe Salaru.
Speaking about the residents of Ţintareni, who staged a number of protests and blocked access to the waste dump, demanding that it be closed, the minister said the garbage cannot be taken from Chisinau to Romania or Ukraine. We must implement projects to solve the problem,” said the minister.
He also said that solutions should be found to sort the garbage and then recycle it. “Projects to restructure the waste dump in Tintareni must be proposed by the local authorities. We can support them, but cannot replace the authorities. The waste-related problems must be dealt with by the local authorities,” said the minister.
According to Gheorghe Salaru, the storage of waste dump is a serious problem in Moldova, especially in villages, where there are by 2-3 authorized waste dumps and another 2-3 unauthorized waste dumps.
