A Games Library will be inaugurated Friday, November 9, at the Carpineni-based Residential Gymnasium, as part of the project “Ludofriends – La Fabbrica del Sorriso”. The children will perform a short concert on this occasion. The project implementers say the games library, the fourth to open in Moldova’s residential establishments, will help the institutionalised children develop their personality through animation and playing. The games library provides the children with lots of games and lots of space for them to feel happy. According to a survey conducted by UNICEF in cooperation with the Government of Moldova, most of the establishments for preschool age children lack playrooms (73.7%) and visit rooms (91.8%), where a parent can see his child in private. The project “Ludofriends – The Smiles Factory” builds on an earlier project called “Spre o Familie” (“Towards a Family”), launched in 2003 by Amici dei Bambini Association together with the NGO “Prietenii Copiilor” (“The Friends of Children”). The first stage of the project was implemented at the Boarding School No.1 based in Chisinau, and two years later, in 2005, it continued in the Leova-based Boarding School. “Ludofriends – The Smiles Factory” is now implemented in residential establishments located in Straseni and Falesti, as well as at the Provisional Placement & Rehab Centre for Children in the city of Balti.
