Galina Tufekci asks to be recognized as injured party in case of Vasile Botnari

Galina Tufekci, the wife of the director of the “Orizont” Lyceum based in Ceadîr-Lunga Feridun Tufekci, who was expelled from the Republic of Moldova two years ago, asks to be recognized as an injured party in the case started against the former SIS director Vasile Botnari.

Contacted by IPN for details, Galina Tufekci said that in a hearing in this case that was held at the Appeals Court on November 27, she requested to be recognized as a party in this case and to be allowed to familiarize herself with the materials of the case. The judges are to examine her request and asked for additional documents from her. A new hearing in this case was set for February 19, 2pm.

Galina Tufekci also said that her husband continues to be held in jail in Turkey, where he was convicted to seven years and a half behind bars. His state of health is bad. “We permanently wait for him in the hope that he will return soon, but realize the situation,” said the woman, noting that she lives with hope in her soul.

In September 2018, seven Turkish teachers of the “Orizont” Lyceum were expelled from Moldova at the request of the Turkish authorities for the reason that they were suspected of having ties with the FETO organization, which is considered a terrorist group by Ankara. The then director of the Security and intelligence Service (SIS) Vasile Botnari was found guilty of abuse of power and was fined 88,000 lei. The judgment was passed by the Chisinau City Court on July 15 this year.
