The Parliament’s legal commission for appointments and immunities chose Galina Bostan for the post of member of the National Integrity Commission (NIC) on behalf of civil society. The commission’s chairman Victor Popa has told Info-Prim Neo that she was elected by seven votes of the MPs of the ruling alliance. The Communist lawmakers didn’t take part in the meeting. The other candidates were Dumitru Proca, Dumitru Graur, Igor Caldare, and Anatolie Petrici. Galina Bostan is to be confirmed in the post by Parliament. Until now, Galina Bostan headed the Center for the Analysis and Prevention of Corruption (CAPC). The post of NIC member on behalf of civil society fell vacant after Cristina Cojocaru tendered her resignation following the election of the commission’s head, saying she was not sure that the body was constituted legally. The National Integrity Commission was empowered to verify the income statements of civil servants.
