Gagauzia residents are awaited at voting booths on Sunday
The residents of ATU Gagauzia’s 22 districts are awaited at voting booths on Sunday, September 23, to vote in the second round of the People’s Assembly elections. The voters will chose another 22 MPs, who will join the 13 already elected.
Comrat district Central Electoral Commission (CEC) head Svetlana Mironova told Info-Prim Neo that each of the districts has two candidates who had accumulated the largest number of votes during the first round. Of the 44 candidates, 28 are independent, and 16 are members of Parties: 10 from the Party of Communists, 6 from the Liberal Democratic Party, and a candidate from the Socialist Party.
41 voting offices will be open on Friday. They will operate from 7am till 9pm. Around 70,000 citizens are expected to vote. Svetlana Mironova mentioned that the budget of the second round of elections was estimated at approximately 615,000 lei.
The Minister of Information Technologies and Communications announced in a press release that, due to the second round of elections, the offices of population documentation and monitoring of the Comrat CRIS “Registru” from Comrat, Ceadir-Lunga, and Vulcanesti, will work on a special schedule, from 7am to 9pm.
The voters, whose IDs will be invalid on the election day, will receive free provisional IDs from the population documentation and monitoring offices. Eligible voters, who don’t have a residential record, will receive from the same offices a free certificate, to serve as proof of their last residential records, or of its lack thereof.
13 Assembly members were elected during elections on September 9, out of a total 35 members of the Gagauzian People’s Assembly.
