Yevgeniya Gutsul, the governor-elect of the Gagauz autonomy, will be inducted into office on July 19. This was announced by representatives of the region’s parliament, the People’s Assembly.

A candidate of the Shor Party, which was recently declared unconstitutional, is Gutsul to be inaugurated in a ceremony hosted by the People’s Assembly on July 19 at 6:30 PM.

The first round of the Gagauz gubernatorial election took place on April 30, and the runoff a fortnight later was held between Yevgeniya Gutsul and Grigori Uzun, supported by the Socialist Party. Gutsul eventually beat Uzun by 27,374 to 24,926 votes. On May 22, the Comrat Court of Appeal formally confirmed the outcome of the election.
