The Bashkan (Governor) of Gagauzia Mihai Formuzal called upon Prime Minister Vlad Filat not to modify the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova. He made the request in a meeting of the Premier and representatives of the authorities of Ceadar-Lunga district, where Vlad Filat paid a working visit on August 16, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the official website of Gagauzia. The governor said the supreme law can be amended only when there is political and economic stability. He suggested starting the discussions on the modification of the Constitution after the political crisis is overcome. During the meeting, Vlad Filat said the head of state should be elected in autumn at the latest as Moldova cannot cope with new early legislative elections. He stressed that a compromise should be reached in this respect. Vlad Filat went to Ceadar-Lunga in order to take part in the inauguration of the Palace of Justice that was built with money from the state budget. He also visited other public institutions.
