Gagauzia doctors learn to not tolerate corruption
Doctors in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauz-Yeri took part in a training course teaching not to tolerate corruption. The course was organized by the Civil Interaction and Prevention Division of the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime (CCCEC), Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the CCCEC, the seminar was held in Comrat town. It brought together employees of the district hospitals from Comrat, Vulcanesti and Ceadar-Lunga and Gagauzian family doctors centers and preventive medicine centers.
The participants in the seminar themed “Prevention of Corruption in the Healthcare System” were familiarized with the stipulations of the national normative documents in the area of corruption prevention and combating, including legal-penal aspects of corruption, the data of opinion polls, etc.
The doctors showed an increased interest in the “recompense and presents” subject. The CCCEC officers informed them that under article 7 of the law on the rights and responsibilities of the patient, the medical staff is not allowed to pressurize the patient into giving bribe. They also discussed the stipulations of the Deontological Code of the Medical Worker and Pharmacist. According to point 64 of the Code, the medical workers and pharmacists are not allowed to ask bribe, presents, services or other benefits from the patient, his guardians or relatives for diagnosing and treating the patient.
The training course was organized by the CCCEC in concert with the Ministry of Health, the Health and Social Protection Division of Gagauzia and representatives of medical intuitions from the three districts.
The CCCEC pledged to continue the anticorruption campaign and carry out other activities of the kind this year.
