Gagauz freight carriers complain about actions of border police

The international freight carriers from Gagauzia accuse the border police of committing deviations that can lead to a halt in their work. The press service of the Gagauz executive authority has told IPN that the given complaint was transmitted to the Governor of Gagauzia Mihail Formuzal.

In a letter, 13 drivers of vehicles running on regular routes between Moldova and Turkey said that after entering Moldova through the Cahul customs post, the vehicles are stopped by the police and detained for up to 10 hours. The drivers are forced to sign certain documents. It is suggested to them that they should pay for every route.

Furthermore, the drivers are indignant at the fact that the police fully unload the trucks and cut open the parcels that belong mainly to residents of Gagauzia.

If the situation does not improve, the carriers may stop work.

For his part, Mihail Formuzal Friday said that he intends to meet with the administration of the border police and will demand that the police officers have a correct attitude to the population.
