Gagauz authorities solicit special passports

The authorities of the Gagauzia autonomy have requested special passports from the Moldovan Parliament. As the legislative initiative submitted to the Parliament says, special passports should be grated to the members of the Gagauz People’s Assembly, heads of the autonomy’s general departments, counsellors and assistants to the Gagauzia Governor and Chairman of the People’s Assembly. The authors of the proposal argued that while arranging official trips abroad to handle issues for the development of the region, the lack of special passports makes the travels more difficult for the Gagauz public officials. At present only the Deputy Chairmen of the People’s Assembly and the Deputy Chairmen of the region’s Executive Committee hold special passports.
