The administration of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia is working out a legislative initiative concerning the provision of tax concessions to the local agricultural producers. The press service of Gagauzia’s executive committee has told IPN’s reporter that a grace period will be granted for paying taxes in order to enable the producers to more advantageously sell the grain.
The executive committee can allow the agricultural producers to partially pay the taxes so that they are able to sell the grain and other agricultural products at higher prices. However, the measure applies only to certain types of taxes such as the value added tax and the income tax.
The issue was discussed in the last meeting of the executive committee. It was mentioned that the largest companies intentionally reduced the price of grain. Thus, the grain will start to be sold only after the market prices stabilize.
The grain harvest in Gagauzia this year was about 130,000 tonnes.
