Fusing of Danube mackerel allowed in some rivers as from May 16

The sports, amateur and recreational fishing of the Danube mackerel (Alosa immaculata) is allowed as from May 16. This is a season fish that lives in the Black Sea and in the period, during about two months and a half, migrates to the Nistru for reproduction and food, IPN reports.

Under an order made by the Environmental Agency, the holders of fishing permits can catch only this type of fish during the prohibition period, from May 16 until June 14, 2021.

Fishing is possible in the lower course of the
Nistru River, from Palanca village of Ştefan Vodă district up to the Dubăsari Hydropower Plant, and in the Turunciuc branch. In the other rivers and in lakes, fishing is banned until June 14, 2021.
