The head of the National Public Health Agency Nicolae Furtună said he does not know if the place where the wedding party of the son of Prime Minister Ion Chicu took place, at a winery in Anenii Noi, was authorized or not. He noted information about the fines imposed on private individuals and legal entities will be presented this Friday, IPN reports.
Nicolae Furtună was asked by journalists to explain what the difference between a wedding party or a christening ceremony and a party that involves 50 persons is. The epidemiologist said the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission approved the type of events that are permitted, excluding the wedding or baptizing ceremonies with over 50 persons. “This was done following enormous pressure exerted by the population and by the industry that wanted to give work to the people, to pay them salaries and to operate,” Nicolae Furtună stated in a news conference.
“I’m not the one who should explain the difference between a wedding party and a christening ceremony. The idea was that the event should not involve more than 50 persons as such ceremonies imply close physical contact.”
After the press reported that the son of Premier Chicu celebrated his wedding party at a winery in Anenii Noi during the pandemic, the official reacted, saying it wasn’t actually a wedding ceremony, but rather a special meal and all the anti-epidemic measures were respected at the event.
In another development, secretary of state at the Ministry of Health Constantin Rymish said that Minister of Health Viorica Dumbrăveanu, who contracted the novel coronavirus, feels fine.
