The investigation into the case of drug distribution that involves a functionary of the Centru district head’s office of Chisinau was completed and the case was sent to court. The 28-year-old man has been held on remand since the end of last November, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the functionary tried to sell heroine at the price of over 2,000 lei per gram. During the arrest on November 25, 2016, a number of doses of heroine prepared for sale were found on the accused. At his home, the police found scales and packets for dividing the drugs. Drugs were also found in his office.

Drug distribution carries a penalty of up to seven years behind bars and ban on holding particular public posts.
