Fulger gives aid to disabled war veterans, widowed families
Thirty-tree veterans who were disabled in the 1992 Nistru war received 1,000 lei in aid from the command of the Special Operations Police Unit “Fulger”. Col. Ion Turcanu, the commander of Fulger, has told Info-Prim Neo that 500 lei sums were also given in aid to first degree relatives – wives, parents and children – of the combatants who died at war. All beneficiaries received food packages as well.
The aid was granted at a commemorative event held by Fulger to pay tribute to those who fell during the 1992 war and their heroic deeds.
Over 260 Fulger rangers were injured in that war, and other 33 were killed. Three of them were posthumously awarded the Republic Order and the rest Stephan the Great's Order.
On March 2, 19 years ago, the military conflict on the Nistru River erupted. The Moldovan Parliament declared March 2 as Memorial Day.
