European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Štefan Füle will have meetings in Chisinau with Prime Minister designate Iurie Leanca and the leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat, the head of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Valeriu Strelet told the press. The European official will pay a visit to Moldova this weekend, IPN reports.

“Füle will certainly meet with Prime Minister designate Iurie Leanca and the chairman of the PLDM Vlad Filat, because they have known each other for a long time,” said the MP.

In a news conference earlier, the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Dirk Schuebel said that Štefan Füle comes to Chisinau on a private visit to attend the Europe Day events. The ambassador avoided saying if the commissioner will have meetings with Moldovan officials or politicians.

A series of events dedicated to Europe Day, which is officially marked on May 9, will take place during May 18-26.
