Fugitive MP Ilan Shor: I will soon return to Parliament

The leader of the Shor Party Ilan Shor, who was convicted by the ordinary court in the bank fraud case, refuses to say where he is now for the reason that his safety is in danger, but said that he will soon return to Parliament, IPN reports.

“I’m where I feel safe. This is a place that offers protection. I will not make public my whereabouts not because I don’t want this, but because this is part of the strategy to protect my life that is now in danger owing to the many people to whom I’m not convenient. I will soon return to Parliament,” Ilan Shor stated in the program “Politics” on TV8 channel.

The moderator of the program stated that according to unofficial sources, Ilan Shor was in a luxury quarter in Tel Aviv.

Ilan Shor noted that the parliamentary platform “For Moldova” will not vote the PAS statement on the necessity of triggering snap elections.

“We consider this statement is a lawless one. In fact, the PAS tells the MPs not to obey the law and not to come to the Parliament sitting for fulfilling their duties of MP. This is a lawlessness method,” he stated, noting the snap elections should be held after the health and economic crises in Moldova are overcame.

“The people have other problems. The pandemic situation is catastrophic. We have a huge budget deficit. The farmers face problems. We consider these problems should be solved first and parliamentary elections could be organized later. We want snap elections, but not at any cost. We cannot put the political interests above the people’s interests,” stated Ilan Shor.

During the program, Ilan Shor admitted that he talks with the former leader of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc over phone. The last time they met in 2019. Ilan Shor fled the Republic of Moldova in June 2019, being now wanted.
