The price of 95 gasoline at some filling stations rose today by 0.5 leu to 17.6 lei a liter and of diesel fuel by 0.4 leu to 16.5 lei. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Energy Regulatory Agency director Victor Parlicov said a number of companies had submitted notifications of price increases, but only several actually changed them. Victor Parlicov thinks that the price rises are not justified, considering that prices have lately dropped significantly on international markets and currency exchanged rates have changed to the importers' advantage. The Agency however is not authorized to intervene since the operators haven't exceeded the allowed profit rate of 10%. Last time fuel prices increased in August by 0.4-0.5 lei for both gas and diesel fuel.
