The Rubicon Ultramarathon 2025 will be organized, for the second year, in a cross-border regime and will connect the two banks of the Prut River through a 478-kilometer route. The start will be given in Bucharest on February 28 at the "Arch of Triumph" National Sports Complex, IPN reports.

"By participating in this competition, runners not only test their strength and endurance, but also actively contribute to strengthening the ties between Romania and the Republic of Moldova, both a sporting and cultural levels," says Sergiu Gurin, secretary of state of the Ministry of Education and Research, quoted in a press release of the institution.

The planned route will cross five counties in Romania (Bucharest, Ilfov, Ialomita, Buzau, Braila, Galati), and five districts in the Republic of Moldova (Ialoveni, Cimislia, Taraclia, Gagauzia, and Cahul), each area corresponding to at least one and a maximum of ten stages out of the 46 stages of the race, said the National Agency for Sport of Romania.

The ultramarathon will have day and night stages, each with its degree of complexity, from 1 to 10, depending on the length, relief and time of day. Each one will have between 7 and 15 kilometers and a distinct name, and participants will have the freedom to choose the number of stages they want to complete.

Runners will have the opportunity to win dozens of special medals, representing the coats of arms of the regions they will run through. To obtain a county medal, ultramarathoners will have to complete at least one stage in that county. A bus provided by the organizers will accompany the athletes for the entire duration of the event held between February 28 and March 2, the Romanian agency noted.

The start and finish will be in the vicinity of two emblematic points: the Arch of Triumph in Bucharest and the similar monument in Chisinau. Registrations are possible through the official website of the competition. The route map is also available from the site.
