Some 60 localities from 12 districts and Chisinau municipality have been affected by the floods. The number of evacuees is now 5,000, according to the Government, as 83 families don't have where to return, since their houses have been destroyed. Two people have died in Chisinau taken by a freshet, Info-Prim Neo reports. 466 houses and 374 have been flooded in Moldova. The freshet will hit the south of the country one of these days. The Government is considering to evacuated the threatened people. First deputy premier Igor Dodon told a news conference later on Thursday the situation at the reservoirs at Costesti-Stanca and Dnestrovsk was improving. The water level drops. However, the southern localities in the districts of Hancesti, Leova, Cantemir and Cahul are menaced. A better situation is found in Rascani and Glodeni districts, but the situation is tense in Ungheni district. On the Nistru, the water from Dnestrovsk's pool is released at a speed of 2,000 cubic meters/sec., compared with 3,000 on Wednesday. The water is slightly decreasing in Ocnita and Soroca districts, the deputy premier says. The most difficult situation is reported in Ustia, Parata, Cosernita, below the Dubasari reservoir, and between Bender and Palanca. The coming 24 hours the authorities are especially concerned with the localities below Bender. The maximum freshet, expected in the first half of Friday, will have a flow of 2,400-2,500 cubic meters/sec. “Although some areas will be flooded, the population and belongings have been evacuated,” Igor Dodon said. He reassured everything is under control and the water supply to Soroca and Chisinau is normal. As many as 120 companies have offered humanitarian aid, as 200,000 lei have been transferred to the Government's special account. Igor Dodon suggests the Parliament needs to convene to change the state budget to disburse aid to the flood-stricken people. 1,500 people are engaged in fighting the floods.
