Fresh Peace Corps volunteers arrive in Moldova

A new group of sixty-three U.S. Peace Corps volunteers are to arrive in Chisinau on Thursday, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a press release from the U.S. Embassy in Moldova. Before beginning their service, the volunteers will have a 10-week pre-service training, to study Romanian or Russian, learn about Moldovan culture and have technical sessions. After the training, the Volunteers will work in schools, universities, NGOs and in local public administrations throughout Moldova. 19 of the volunteers will work in the field of English Education, 15 will serve as Health Education for Schools and Communities Volunteers, 15 will work in Community and Organizational Development Project and 14 will serve as Agribusiness and Rural Business Development Volunteers. The Peace Corps started to work in Moldova in 1993. Its first mission helped Moldovan teachers of English to improve their skills. Later the Peace Corps involved in projects dealing with community development, agriculture, agri-business and health education.
