Emmanuel Macron will visit Moldova next week to show France’s support for the country which has been particularly affected by the consequences of the war in Ukraine, announced the Elysée.
“Russia’s unacceptable aggression against Ukraine poses a threat to the stability of the entire region and especially to the Republic of Moldova, as recent incidents in the Transnistrian region show that an escalation of the conflict cannot be ruled out”, the French president told Moldova’s Maia Sandu during a meeting in Paris in May.
Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu also visited Paris during June 9-10, where he discussed with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna and senior French Senate officials plans to advance bilateral cooperation focused on modernizing Moldova.
Before coming to Chisinau on June 15, Emmanuel Macron will visit neighboring Romania on June 14.
