The Prime Minister of France Manuel Valls confirmed his readiness to come to Chisinau accompanied by a group of businessmen and underlined the importance of making investments in renewable sources of energy. “France attentively follows the developments in Moldova and is certainly on your side. We want to develop the bilateral relations, especially on the European dimension,” the French Premier said in a meeting with his Moldovan counterpart Iurie Leanca, who closed his two-day visit to Paris, IPN reports.
According to the Government’s press service, the two heads of government said that the ensuring of Moldova’s energy security, especially by diversifying the natural gas and electricity supply sources, is an important component of the dialogue with the EU, which should open new opportunities for the cooperation with France. Iurie Leanca and Manuel Valls stressed the importance of promoting francophonie, including through the agency of a French school that would be opened in Chisinau.
Iurie Leanca also met with the President of the French Senate Jean-Pierre Bel. The Moldovan head of Government said the development of multidimensional cooperation with France represents a strategic objective of Moldova’s foreign policy. “Moldova does not perceive its development and future outside the European integration. We are grateful to the French partners for the support provided in hastening the signing of the Association Agreement, which represents a decisive roadmap for achieving the European integration objective,” he stated.
He had a meeting with members of the France – Moldova Friendship Group of the National Assembly, which is headed by Frédéric Reiss. “The encouragement and support of our friends mobilizes us on our path to the EU, which will become irreversible when we obtain the status of accession candidate. Moldova will remain a reliable partner,” said the Prime Minister of Moldova.
Iurie Leanca paid a two-day visit to France at the invitation of President François Hollande.
