French Knowledge House to be opened in Chisinau
A French Knowledge House will be set up in Chisinau under a public-private partnership, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The International Organization of Francophonie and the International Association of Francophone Mayors will provide 300 million euros to outfit the institution and pay the teachers.
The Academy of Economic Studies offered free space (584 square meters) for the project, while the Chisinau administration will cover the maintenance costs. The costs for this year are estimated at 61,000 lei, while for the next year – at 200,000 lei.
The French Knowledge House will have a library of 3,000 titles and a videoteque and will provide paid services for the public. According to the head of the Chisinau Interethnic Relations Division Gabriela Ciumac, the institution will provide education, information and training services, mainly how to use information and communication technology, etc.
“The Knowledge House will have a modern infrastructure and will provide direct access to media sources and pedagogical resources,” Gabriela Ciumac said at Thursday's meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council. “The Chisinau residents will benefit from training and self-training space and will be able to cooperate with different operators of the Francophonie and of partner institutions,” she added.
The French Knowledge House will be inaugurated towards the end of the year.
