Free Trade Area with EU means financial support for producers too, official

The creation of the Free Trade Area with the EU means not only requirements towards Moldova, but also significant financial support for local producers, said European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Dacian Ciolos. In a meeting with Head of Parliament Igor Corman in Chisinau, Dacian Ciolos said that Moldova benefits from plenary support from the European Commission, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from Parliament.

“It is important that in this period of emulation in Brussels, the authorities continue the efforts to implement reforms,” said the European commissioner. He underlined that the Free Trade Agreement with the EU is an asymmetric one, in Moldova’s favor, while the concessions made are unprecedented.

The Speaker said that the development of agriculture and rural areas is one of Moldova’s priorities. “When the Association Agreement is signed, more opportunities will appear for the ocal producers. That’s why it is important to inform the people and the business sector about the advantages of the free trade with the EU,” he stated.

The officials also discussed the accessing of the ENPARD funds by Moldova with which the local manufacturers will be able to strengthen their capacities so as to meet the EU norms and standards.
